Vocus Marketing Suite Rebrands As OutMarket

Published: September 15, 2014

Vocus Marketing Suite, the marketing business unit of Vocus, has been rebranded as OutMarket and will operate as an independent company. This move takes place four months after Vocus was acquired by private equity firm GTCR.

Prior to the rebranding, OutMarket underwent several enhancements, including tools that offer social customer tracking capabilities. The platform also includes an updated consulting program that is positioned to provide advice on marketing best practices, content and campaign optimization.

The company will be led by Vocus veterans You Mon Tsang and Mark Heys, according to GTCR Managing Director Mark Anderson. “The spin-off of OutMarket will enable us to focus intensely on the rapidly evolving needs of marketing professionals and small business operators.”

“When marketing is automated and integrated, it works better,” said Tsang. “This is why we are so excited to unveil OutMarket. Its award-winning software from the people that brought you Vocus PR, PRWeb, Help a Reporter Out and iContact, but with a new brand and company that is singularly focused on the needs of the marketer.”

The social media, directory listings, and press release functions give OutMarket more opportunity to serve consumer marketers than usual, according to David Raab, Principal of Raab Associates.

Raab added: “GTCR has bought itself a very competitive marketing automation product for small to mid-size companies. There is a good chance that OutMarket can elbow its way to a top position in the hyper-crowded SMB marketing automation universe.”

The Vocus PR business unit will be combined with Cision, a provider of cloud-based PR software controlled by a division of CTGR.
