HubSpot released LinkTally, a new tool to calculate how many times a link has been shared across Twitter, Google+, Facebook and LinkedIn.
According to a blog post by the tool’s creator, HubSpot’s Social Media Scientist Dan Zarrella, LinkTally can help B2B marketers measure the effectiveness of their social media campaigns, including:
Comparing the success of blog article topics on a number of sites to brainstorm new content ideas;
Determining which content formats (e.g. infographics vs. text-based-content vs. video content, etc.) are most popular for social sharing;
Pinpointing which social networks to use to help launch certain types of content in the future;
Investigating the social reach of various blogs to identify targets for guest blogging; and
Measuring the social success of your competitors’ content for benchmarking purposes.
“Many web sites include social sharing buttons, but might not calculate reach on all the networks available,” said Zarrella. “With LinkTally, marketers can socially benchmark their own content against competitors, scope out the reach of potential guest blogging opportunities or see what topics their audience is sharing content about – among a number of other uses.”
