Proving return on investment is becoming a bigger priority for B2B marketing teams. B2BMX Insights has released its 2026 Benchmark Report, which shows revenue-based quotas rose from 25.3% in 2025 to 33.3% in 2026, as organizations increasingly hold marketing accountable for direct revenue outcomes rather than activity or lead volume.

The rise in revenue accountability lines up with a broader shift in how marketers measure success. Pipeline influenced is now the top performance metric at 44%, overtaking opportunities generated and MQLs and SALs, the leading metrics in 2025. Together, these trends point to a marketing function under growing pressure to demonstrate clear business impact.

Closer alignment between brand and demand generation teams may be helping marketers meet that pressure. The share of organizations where brand and demand teams work together on shared campaigns rose to 41.7%, up from 29.3% in 2025, a sign that more unified strategies are emerging as teams chase shared revenue goals.

The 2026 B2BMX Insights Benchmark Report maps how B2B marketers are rethinking budgets, priorities and channels against the prior year’s results. More than half of respondents, 52.8%, reported annual revenue under $50 million, while 19.4% reported revenue above $1 billion. Software and technology companies made up the largest share of respondents at 44.4%, followed by business services and consulting at 22.2%.
